SonicWall Underwent Rigorous Testing to Attain Common Criteria Certification

Many of our Gen 7 appliances are now Common Criteria Certified – read on to find out what this means for you.

A Brief Breakdown of Common Criteria Certification

Common Criteria is a set of standards originally developed through the combined efforts of the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands in 1994. It’s the result of taking the best parts of ITSEC (Europe), TCSEC (United States) and CTCPEC (Canada). Common Criteria Certification was created so that security products intended for a global market don’t have to go through re-evaluation for every single country they’re being used in.

Our products went through rigorous testing performed by an independent third-party lab and succeeded. This certification is the fruit of much hard work and dedication from our team, and we couldn’t be more proud of our efforts. With this certification in hand, our current and soon-to-be customers can rest assured that they’re getting the best protection for their environments.

Which SonicWall Products Are Now Common Criteria Certified?

The certification is for our Gen 7 TZ, NSa, NSsp and NSv appliances that are running SonicOS/X v7.0.1 or higher with VPN and IPS. SonicOS is one of the most important components of all of our firewall and SMA appliances.

What Doors Does This Open?

Common Criteria Certification is often a must-have for critical products being deployed by government agencies and public sector organizations. The National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) publishes a list of products that are Common Criteria-compliant for the procurement of the U.S. national security system and the international 31-nation Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) member nations. Having this Common Criteria Certificate in hand is a huge step for our firewall and SMA sales, especially in SLED and FED. Our partners will now be able to seek out new opportunities and retain current customers with evolving needs. On top of all this, you can also now find us in the NATO Information Assurance Product Catalogue (NIAPC).
